It was a chance of a lifetime and perhaps a dream come true for many of the students of the JCC Dance Company. Just recently, they had an exclusive pass to dance the day away with world-renown New York City Rockettes! Students of the JCC Dance Company at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades were not only invited to attend master classes the Rockettes, but they were also able to meet the dancers and take part in a question and answer session, as well as take a tour of Radio City. This experience with the Rockettes gave them an unique opportunity to interact with professional dances many look to as role models.
“The JCC Dance Company is for children who are dedicated to dancing and really motivated to excel in their art,” explains the school’s director Allyson Carolan. “We established the company as an extension of our student’s initial dance training and providing opportunities like this one with the Rockettes is something I look to bring to their experience because it opens doors and opens their eyes to all the possibilities that are out there for dancers who feel a passion for their art.”
Students in the JCC Dance Company train in multiple styles of dance and have been known to participate in rehearsals and perform in front of diverse audiences. The various venues around the area include street fairs, amusement parks, nursing homes, and mall, to name a few.
